Learning from Boyle: A Regeneration Journey with Dublin Rural LEADER

The Dublin Rural LEADER team recently had the pleasure of visiting Boyle, Co. Roscommon to explore one of Ireland’s most impressive town regeneration projects. Organised by Fingal County Council’s Town Regeneration Team, the trip brought together community representatives and regeneration professionals for a day of learning, connection, and inspiration.

Our sincere thanks go to Roscommon County Council and the Boyle Town Team, who generously hosted us and provided an insightful tour of the town’s revitalisation efforts. From innovative public realm improvements to the activation of heritage sites and support for local enterprise, Boyle is a fantastic example of what can be achieved through strategic planning and strong community collaboration.

We were joined on the day by members of Ballyboughal Community Council, Rush Community Council, and our local representatives, all of whom brought valuable perspectives to the conversations. The hospitality shown throughout the visit was second to none, and the shared enthusiasm for rural development made for an energising experience.

At Dublin Rural LEADER, we know that real change happens when communities come together with a clear vision and the right supports. Seeing Boyle’s regeneration journey first-hand has offered us practical insights and renewed motivation as we continue to support community-led development across Rural Dublin.

We look forward to applying what we've learned and sharing these ideas with the vibrant communities we serve.
