The Programme is implemented using the LEADER approach, which emphasises a ‘bottom-up’ approach to rural development. Funding is available under the Rural Development Programme for projects in the rural/agri tourism sector, community enterprise and non-profit sector enterprises across a broad range of measures (see funding measures for details). The delivery of Axis 3 and 4 of the Rural Development Programme represents the delivery of the 3rd rural development programme in the rural areas of Dublin, the previous two Programmes LEADER II and LEADER+ being delivered by Rural Dublin LEADER Company Ltd, as well as the National Rural Development Programme. |
Fingal LEADER Partnership (formerly Rural Dublin LEADER Co Ltd) is responsible for the delivery of Axis 3 and 4 of the Rural Development Programme in the rural areas of Fingal, South Dublin and Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown counties. The aim of the Programme is to improve the quality of life in rural areas and encourage the diversification of the rural economy. The total overall funding for the 2007-2013 Programme for the rural Dublin area is €7,766,780. The allocation for 2009 was €514,549.
